American Legion, Co-op capture wins

The American Legion and Cloud County Co-op posted wins in the opening round of the Concordia Recreation Girls' Softball Tournament Tuesday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
Scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, the American Legion edged Subway, 16-15.
Cloud County Co-op downed Funk Pharmacy, 11-4.
The American Legion and Cloud County Co-op will meet in the championship game on Thursday night.
Subway and Funk Pharmacy will play in the third-place game.
The American Legion led Subway 5-0 after one inning of play.
Subway scored two runs in the top of the second inning, but the American Legion answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 11-2.
Pushing across six runs in the top of the third inning, Subway closed the gap to 11-8.
The American Legion made it 14-8 with three runs in the bottom of the third.
Subway scored six runs in the fourth inning and one in the top of the fifth to go up 15-14.
Addison Forshee scored the tying run in the bottom of the fifth inning for the American Legion and Camleigh Hake scored the winning run.
Hake scored four runs in the win for the American Legion.
Forshee and Morgan Lister scored three runs each.
Alyssa Patterson scored three runs for Subway.
Cloud County Co-op jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning in the other game.
Six runs in the second inning gave Cloud County Co-op a 9-0 advantage.
Funk Pharmacy made it a 9-4 game with four runs in the top of the third inning.
Cloud County Co-op tacked on two runs in the bottom of the third.
Anna Widen scored three runs for Cloud County Co-op.
