Anchike leads CCCC to third-place finish

EMPORIA — Led by freshman N Vanee Anchike, the Cloud County Community College women's cross country team placed third in the Emporia State Hornet Invitational at Jones Park on Friday.
Anchike established a new school record for a 5,000-meter race by turning in a time of 17:47.52 and placing third.
Cloud County finished with 92 points.
Fort Hays State University won the meet with 23 points. Dodge City Community College was second with 83 points.
Ozia Trujillo ran 18:45.91 and placed sixth for Cloud County.
Jaelyn Rumback crossed in 19th place with a time of 19:48.18.
Nikola Prochazkova rounded out the top four by finishing 35th in 21:11.86.
Cloud County also had Joella Mathilda place 39th in 21:39.52.
