Anchike leads T-Birds to fifth-place finish

HUTCHINSON — Led by third-place finisher N Vanee Anchike, the Cloud County Community College women's cross country team opened its season by placing fifth in the Terry Masterson Classic run at the Fun Valley Sports Complex on Saturday.
Anchike turned in a time of 18:08.21.
Cloud County finished with 123 points.
Fort Hays State won the team title with 31 points. Tabor College was second with 54 and Butler Community College was third with 97.
The Cloud County men had three runners competing as individuals.
Ozia Trujillo ran 19:15.54 and finished 12th for the Cloud County women.
Jaelyn Rumback was 34th for the Thunderbirds in 20:27.31.
Kynlie Crowdis placed 49th in 21:21.48.
Joella Mathilda finished 57th in 22:20.53 and Nikola Prochazkova was 60th in 22:47.52.
The Cloud County men had Siyabonga Mokgothu place third individually with a time of 20:27.82.
Andres Young was 57th in 23:29.55 and Ethan Ochana was 60th in 23:43.18.
