CCCC’s Thompson breaks own record

TOPEKA — Cloud County Community College sophomore Miracle Thompson bettered her own school record in recording a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the Rust Buster Classic indoor track and field meet hosted by Washburn University on Saturday.
Thompson turned in a winning time of 8.39 that broke her school mark of 8.42. She also placed third in the 60-meter dash in 7.50.
The Cloud County women recorded five first-place finishes in a meet that included NCAA Division, I, II and III teams, along with NAIA and NJCAA teams.
Vimbayi Maisvorewa won the 400-meter dash for the Thunderbirds with a time of 55.62.
Passion Crews ran 1:27.46 to place first in the 600-yard dash.
Shackala Henry placed first in the high jump by making 5-8 ½. Teammate Vanessa Mercera placed second by clearing 5-7 ¼.
Cloud County's 4x400 relay team of Crews, Mercera, Maisvorewa and Lela Singleton finished first in 3:52.53.
Cloud County had Singleton finish sixth in the 600-yard run in 1:33.48.
Melody Ochana was seventh in the mile run in 5:25.53.
Jasmine Sakaguchi made 11-5 ¾ to place eighth in the pole vault.
The Cloud County men had Mohamed Ahmed win the weight throw with a best of 65-1/2.
Oageng Mdlela went 47-7 ¼ to place third in the triple jump.
Cloud County's 4x400 relay team of Emanuel Wanga, Hassan Abidi, Daniel Siaffa and Jonathan Dende finished third with a time of 3:15.74.
Abidi was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 49.23. Siaffa placed sixth in 49.67 and Wanga was eighth in 50.07.
The T-Birds got seventh-place finishes by Anson Moses in the long jump (22-5) and Vincent Ugwoke in the shot put (49-3).
Raziel Patton placed eighth in the 600-yard run in 1:13.08.
Ben Okraska made 15-1 to finish eighth in the pole vault.
Arne Roehl was eighth in the high jump by making 6-2 ¾.
