CCCC drops pair to Panthers

The Cloud County Community College softball team wrapped up its regular season with two Jayhawk Conference Division II losses to Neosho County Community College Thursday at the CCCC Softball Field.
Cloud County dropped the first game 4-2 and fell 11-3 in the second game.
The Thunderbirds finish up the regular season 20-26 overall and 10-12 in conference play.
An unearned run in the bottom of the first inning gave Cloud County a 1-0 lead in game one against Neosho County.
The Panthers scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning, and led 2-1.
Jayden Rehlander scored on a double by Hannah Hotalen in the bottom of the fourth, and the game was tied at 2-2.
Two runs in the top of the fifth inning gave Neosho County the lead back at 4-2.
Cloud County was shut out over the final three innings.
Taylor Dekok allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits, struck out four and walked four in taking the loss.
Cloud County broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the third inning in game two.
Ryleigh Jones and Alexis Billings scored on a triple by Mia Kelly.
A ground ball by Rehlander allowed Kelly to score.
Neosho County closed the gap to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the fourth inning.
The Panthers then exploded for nine runs in the fifth inning.
The game ended after five innings because of the eight-run rule.
Kiera Brack pitched the first four and a third innings in suffering the loss. She gave up six runs on four hits, struck out four and walked seven.
Dekok finished up.
