CCCC has two break own school records

WICHITA — The Cloud County Community College women's track and field team had Miracle Thompson and Vanessa Mercera break their own school records while competing in the Herm Wilson Invitational hosted by Wichita State University.
Thompson ran 8.35 to place first and better her own school mark of 8.39 in the 60-meter hurdles.
Turning in a time of 7.48, Thompson also placed first in the 60-meter dash for the Thunderbirds.
Mercera bettered her school mark of 3,375 points by scoring 3,501 in placing second in the pentathlon.
Cloud County also had Passion Crews record a first-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.63.
Jasmine Sakaguchi placed fourth in the pole vault by clearing 11-9 ¼.
Melody Ochana finished sixth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:09.82.
Mallory Callihan threw 46-4 ¼ and placed eighth in the weight throw.
The Cloud County men had three first-place finishes in the meet.
Ricardo Smith led a sweep for the T-Birds in the heptathlon by winning the event with 4,781 points. Anson Moses finished second with 4,748 points and Heman Joseph was third with 4,485.
Kidus Misgina won the mile run in 4:30.64.
Cloud County's 4x400 relay team placed first in 3:22.73.
Ben Okraska went 15-5 ½ to place second in the pole vault.
Lubo Zlatev had a second-place finish in the long jump with a best of 23-3.
Vincent Ugwoke finished third in the shot put with a toss of 50-11 ½ and eighth in the weight throw with a best of 46-11.
Quwayne Reid ran 2:35.04 to place third in the 1,000-meter run. Raziel Patton was fourth in 2:35.24.
Brandon Hutchinson went 44-7 1/2 to finish fourth in the triple jump.
Placing fifth for the T-Birds were Emmanuel Anis in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.24 and Leroy Kamu in the 60-meter dash in 6.94.
Arne Roehl went 6-4 ¾ to place sixth in the high jump.
