CCCC Men Drop Close Game To Cowley County

ARKANSAS CITY — A late charge fell short as the Cloud County Community College Thunderbirds fell 69-63 to the 11th-ranked Cowley College Tigers in a Jayhawk Conference matchup Wednesday night.
Cowley extended a seven-point halftime lead to a 19-point cushion in the second half.
Cloud County battled back to within four points, 67-63, when Ian Lavalaye made a three-point shot with six seconds remaining in the game.
Two free throws by Marcus Zeigler with 3.6 seconds on the clock gave the Tigers the 69-63 victory.
Cloud County had a three-game winning streak halted and is now 19-9 overall and 14-8 in the Jayhawk Conference.
Cowley improved to 25-4 overall and 20-3 in conference play.
Ja'Ron Briggs Jr. led four Cloud County players in double figures with 19 points and also pulled down 12 rebounds.
Cheikh Sow scored 11 points for the T-Birds. Isaiah Sy and Emmauel Manyoun added 10 points each.
Jeff Nwankwo scored 21 points for Cowley.
Corey Thomas finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Tigers. Arzhonte Dallas chipped in 11 points.
Cloud County hosts Butler Community College at 4 p.m. Saturday and finishes up the regular season with a trip to Goodland to play Northwest Kansas Technical College next Wednesday night.
