CCCC picks up two wins over Beavers

The Cloud County Community College softball team improved to 8-3 at home this season by sweeping a doubleheader from Pratt Community College on Saturday.
Cloud County slipped past Pratt 8-6 in the first game and then pounded out a 13-5 victory in the second game to improve to 10-9 on the season.
Pratt scored one run in the top of the second inning in game one.
Grace Utz homered with McKenna Mayhew aboard in the bottom of the inning, and Cloud County led 2-1.
Five runs in the top of the third inning gave the Beavers a 6-2 advantage.
The Thunderbirds tied things up at 6-6 with four runs, three unearned, in the bottom of the third.
Ryleigh Jones singled home the first run in the inning.
Shayna Fila scored on an error.
Jones would get home on an error.
A bunt single by Delaney Exon got Mayhew home.
Kelsey Bohnsack hit a solo home run for Cloud County in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Fila singled home Rae Ann Hartwig in the inning to give the T-Birds an 8-6 lead.
Taylor Dekok shut Pratt out over the final four innings and got the win. She allowed six runs on 11 hits, struck out four and walked two.
Ella Caudill had three hits in the game.
Mayhew had two hits and scored two runs.
Hartwig was 2-for-3 and Utz knocked in two runs.
In the second game, Hartwig scored on a ground ball by Exon in the bottom of the first inning.
Pratt pulled even with a run in the top of the second inning.
Mia Kelly raced home on a double steal in the bottom of the second inning, and Cloud County led 2-1.
Two runs in the top of the third inning put Pratt up 3-2.
Cloud County answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Jones doubled home Fila and scored on a double by Exon.
Bohnsack singled to drive in Exon.
Kelly singled to drive in two runs.
The T-Birds put up five more runs in the fourth inning, and led 12-3.
Jones scored the first run on a bunt single by Bohnsack.
Dekok drove in two runs with a triple and scored on a ground ball by Utz.
Hartwig singled home Kelly with the final run in the inning.
Pratt scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to make it 12-5.
A ground ball by Dekok plated Jones in the bottom of the fifth and gave the T-Birds the 13-5 cushion.
Mayhew pitched all five innings to get the win. She gave up five runs, two earned, on seven hits, struck out two and walked one.
The T-Birds banged out 17 hits in the game.
Dekok had three hits in three at bats, drove in three runs and scored two.
Jones was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Bohnsack had two hits in three at bats, drove in two runs and scored two.
Kelly was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Exon knocked in two runs and scored two.
Hartwig, Fila and Alexis Billings had two hits each.
