CCCC sweeps Seward County

A walk-off win in game one and a one-hitter by Conner Woods in game two gave the Cloud County Community College Thunderbirds a sweep of Seward County Community College in a Jayhawk Conference West Division doubleheader Thursday at the Concordia Sports Complex.
Tom Poole scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning as Cloud County edged Seward County 4-3 in the first game of the twinbill.
Woods then shut the Saints out on just one hit in a 3-0 victory in the second game. He struck out 11 and didn't walk any.
Cloud County improves to 36-11 overall and 19-7 in conference play with the two wins.
One run in the second inning and two in the fourth would give Seward County a 3-0 lead in game one.
The Saints, 12-32 overall and 5-16 in the conference, would go scoreless over the final six innings.
Cloud County closed the gap to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Danny Infante scored the first run on an error on a ball hit by Williams Camacho-Soto.
A single by Joel Benes got Garrett Redden home.
With the T-Birds still trailing by a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, Ian Riley and Brock Wollin each singled and advanced on a throwing error.
Poole was walked intentionally.
Riley would score the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Kolden Howerton.
Seward County would get a pair of ground balls to keep the game tied and send it to extra innings.
Cloud County left the bases loaded in the eighth inning.
Poole was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning.
Infante doubled with one out and Redden was walked to load the bases.
Poole then scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
Rans Sanders got the win in relief of Christian Womble. He gave up one hit and struck out three in two-and-a-third scoreless innings.
Womble allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits, struck out four and walked two.
Riley, Wollin and Redden had two hits each for Cloud County.
Woods then dominated the Cougars in the second game.
Cloud County gave Woods all of the run support he would need in the first inning when Poole doubled to drive in Wollin.
Ty Wevers scored on a ground ball by Riley in the second inning, and the T-Birds led 2-0.
A solo home run by Benes put Cloud County up 3-0.
The two teams will wrap up the four-game series on Saturday in Liberal.
