CCCC trustees conduct organizational meeting

Mark Matthew was sworn in as the new member of the Cloud County Community College board of trustees during its organizational meeting on Wednesday.
Matthew was elected to a position on the board as a write-in candidate in the general election last November.
Jesse Pounds was re-elected as chairman of the board during the meeting.
The board elected Richard Hubert as vice chairman, Samantha Pounds as board clerk-secretary and Caesar Wood, vice president of administrative services, as treasurer.
Committee appointments approved by the board include:
Bruce Graham was approved as the delegate to the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees.
Hubert was elected as the representative to the Kansas Association of School Boards governmental relations network.
Pounds was appointed as the representative to the CloudCorp board of directors and Jim Koch was selected as the Cloud County Community College Foundation board representative.
Commission appointments approved include:
Koch, Hubert and Matthew, audit/finance; Graham and Matthew, nominating/president's evaluation; Hubert and Patricia Owensby Macfarlane, benefits; and Koch and Graham, negotiations, with Macfarlane as the alternate.
The board approved setting the regular meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m in Room 257 of the President's Addition, except for the November meeting that will be on November 15 and December meeting that will be on December 20.
Following adjournment, the board met for its mid-year retreat that included Kansas Association of School Board training, a Kansas Association of Community College Trustees update from executive director Heather Morgan and a discussion about the board of trustees' planning goals.
