CCCC women win Region VI title

COLBY — Three runners placed in the top 10 to lead the Cloud County Community College women's cross country team to a second consecutive Region VI Championship.
Ludjenie Mondesir paced Cloud County by turning in a time of 19:31.97 to finish third individually in the race, run Saturday at Meadow Lake Golf Course.
Lucy Ndungu was one spot back in fourth place with a time of 19:34.98.
Melody Ochana ran 20:05.06 to finish eighth for the Thunderbirds.
Cloud County won the team title with 42 points. Dodge City Community College finished second with 49 points and Hutchinson Community College was third in the 10-team field with 82 points.
The Cloud County men placed third in the meet with 74 points.
Colby Community College won the men's team title with 53 points. Northwest Kansas Technical College was second with 73 points.
Pamela Milano finished just outside the top 10 for the Cloud County women by crossing in 11th place in 20:15.03.
Emma Holthaus rounded out the top five for the T-Bids by finishing 18th in 21:13.14.
Cloud County had Abigail Fisher run 21:26.78 and place 21st.
Christina Beard was 38th in 23:27.94 and Clarissa Koch finished 41st in 23:44.97.
Louis Cocking, Hutchinson, was the individual champion with a time of 19:09.33.
The Cloud County men, who were the two-time defending regional champions, were led by Awet Beraki, who placed third in 24:16.16.
Michael Iyali ran 25:53.11 to finish 13th for the T-Birds.
Kelvin Kemboi placed 17th with a time of 26:40.74.
Linus Limo crossed in 21st place in 27:05.59.
Edwin Kipainoi finished 24th in 27:14.14.
The other Cloud County runners and the times and placings were:
Elmer Sotelo, 27:59.16, 31st; Rylan Cheney, 28:15.12, 36th; and Raziel Patton, 28:44.57, 42nd.
Vincent Nchogu, Northwest Kansas Technical College won the race in 24:03.84.
