CHS goes 2-2 in Sabetha Invitational

SABETHA — Splitting its four pool play matches, the Concordia High School volleyball team did not advance to bracket play in the Sabetha Invitational on Saturday.
Concordia (20-16) opened the tournament with a loss in three sets to Holton.
The Panthers dropped the first set 25-20, won the second set 25-19 and then fell 25-23 in the third and deciding set.
Taylor McDaniel had 10 kills, 13 digs and five service points in the match for the Panthers.
Kenlee Williams had seven kills, four digs and four blocks.
Kynlee Hamel finished with six kills, five digs, five blocks and eight service points.
Callie Parker and Char Cash had six kills each.
Carlie Carlgren had 24 digs, four kills and six service points.
Hattie Blackwood had 20 assists, 10 digs and 10 service points with two aces.
Rylie Jessup had 10 assists.
Baylen Arnold had 16 digs.
Sabetha dealt Concordia a second loss in pool play, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19.
Hamel had eight kills, four digs and four service points with two aces.
Parker also had eight kills.
Carlgren had six kills, 12 digs and seven service points.
McDaniel had four kills and four digs.
Williams had three kills and seven blocks.
Blackwood had 16 assists and four service points with three aces.
Jessup had eight assists, five digs and five service points.
Concordia dropped the first set to St. Mary's Academy, 25-19.
The Panthers dropped the second set 25-19 and then won the third set, 25-19.
Carlgren had eight kills, 15 digs and eight service points.
Parker had seven kills and three blocks.
Hamel had six kills, six blocks and three service points with two aces.
Jessup had 13 assists and six digs.
Arnold had 17 digs and nine service points.
The Panthers finished 2-2 in pool play by defeating Marysville in three sets, 25-20, 14-25, 25-17.
Cash had six kills, five digs and five blocks in the win.
Parker also had six kills.
Carlgren had four kills and seven digs.
Williams had four kills, three digs and three blocks.
Hamel had three kills and 12 service points with two aces.
Blackwood finished with 12 assists, five digs and nine service points with two aces.
Arnold had 18 digs.
Nemaha Central went 6-0 on its way to winning the tournament. Holton placed second. Marysville was third and Sabetha was fourth.
Concordia will play in the Class 4A sub-state tournament on Saturday at a site to be determined.
