CHS goes 2-2 in tournament

Picking up wins in two of their first three matches, the Concordia High School volleyball team went 2-2 in pool play in the invitational tournament it hosted on Saturday.
Concordia swept Hanover in the opening match of the tournament, 25-14, 25-22.
Taylor McDaniel had six kills, five digs and 11 service points with five aces for the Panthers in the win.
Carlie Carlgren also had six kills. She also had three digs, two blocks and three service points.
Hanna Acree finished with a team-high 11 digs in the match and had three service points.
Baylen Arnold added four digs and three service points.
Concordia suffered a 25-15, 25-19 loss to Southeast of Saline.
Callie Parker had six kills in the match for the Panthers.
Carlgren had three kills and six digs.
Shaelin Giersch and Kenlee Williams also had three kills.
Acree had seven digs and Madison Starr had four.
Concordia cruised to a 25-8, 25-14 victory over Minneapolis.
McDaniel finished with seven kills. She also had 10 service points with four aces.
Giersch also had seven kills.
Kynlee Hamel added five kills and Williams had four.
Acree had 20 service points with two aces.
In the final round of pool play, the Panthers were beaten 25-20, 25-20 by Beloit, the third-ranked team in Class 3A, and did not advance to bracket play.
McDaniel had seven kills, five digs and four service points with three aces in the loss.
Parker had four kills and three blocks.
Hamel had four kills, four blocks and five service points.
Williams and Giersch had three kills each.
Acree finished with 14 digs and six service points.
Arnold had nine assists.
Hattie Blackwood had seven assists and five digs.
Carlgren added seven digs.
Beloit and Southeast of Salina advanced out of Pool B.
Smith Center and the Northeast Kansas Nighthawks advanced out of Pool A.
In the semifinals, Beloit defeated the Nighthawks and Smith Center downed Southeast of Saline.
Smith Center knocked off Beloit in the championship match, 31-29, 25-19.
The Nighthawks defeated Southeast of Saline in the third-place match.
