CHS golf team places fifth

WAMEGO — The Concordia High School girls' golf team placed fifth in the Wamego Invitational Thursday at Wamego Country Club.
Concordia posted a team score of 255.
Wamego, with the top four individual placers, won the tournament with a 159. Silver Lake was second with a 211. Kansas City-Piper and Ottawa each shot 225.
Concordia was led by junior Emma Herman with a 54.
“I thought Emma did a good job of managing her game today. There was a premium on hitting fairways, and she made good decisions that helped her stay out of trouble,” Concordia coach Gene Rundus said.
Senior Cianna DeLeon shot a 64 for Concordia.
Junior Georgia Trost carded a 68 for the Panthers and senior Payton Johnson shot a 69.
“The thick grass and lateral hazards were a big factor for all of the teams, so there were quite a few unplayable lies that led to some higher scores,” Rundus said.
Addison Douglas, Wamego, was the individual medalist with a 37.
