CHS places second in own invitational

Posting its lowest team score of the season, the Concordia High School golf team placed second in its home tournament Monday at Concordia Golf & Wellness.
Concordia finished with a four-man score of 331.
Clay Center won the tournament with a 325. Marysville was third with a 337.
Luke Donovan turned in rounds of 39-39 to finish with a 78 and place third individually for Concordia. He was just one stroke out of first place.
“Luke Donovan showed a lot of grit today, struggling with hole four on both the front and back nines. We need this kind of bounce back and I was impressed to see him finish only one stroke off the lead,” Concordia coach Gene Rundus said.
Danny Jackson, Chapman, and Ian Floersch, Clay Center, each shot 77.
Jackson defeated Floersch on the first playoff hole to capture medalist honors.
Aden Plymesser, with rounds of 40-48, carded an 81 and finished in a five-way tie for sixth place.
Based on the tiebreaker, Plymesser placed 10th.
“Aden Plymesser continues to be solid in our lineup. His calm demeanor is a real asset,” Rundus said.
Lewis VanMeter turned in an 84 for Concordia with rounds of 40-44.
Lennon Ninemire rounded out the top four for the Panthers with an 88. He posed identical rounds of 44.
Concordia also had Keegan Hamel shoot a 91 and Karson Lister finish with a 96.
The Concordia junior varsity had Parker Teel post an 81 and place eighth individually.
“Parker Teel had a great round today, and I hope he will capitalize on it as he challenges for a varsity spot,” Rundus said.
Also competing for the Panther junior varsity, and their scores, were Andrew Henderson, 92; Jaxson Brooks, 105; Justus Trost, 105; and Brett Rosenbaum, 114.
