CHS places third in league

CLAY CENTER — Freshman Luke Donovan and senior Braxton Kindel placed in the top 10 individually to lead the Concordia High School golf team to a third-place finish in the North Central Kansas League tournament Monday at Clay Center Country Club.
Donovan turned in rounds of 37-41 to post a season-best 78 and place eighth individually.
Kindel followed up a 39 on the front nine with a 41 on the back to finish with an 80, his best round this season. That placed him ninth.
Concordia finished with a team score of 328.
Clay Center, with three players finishing in the top four individually, won the team title with a 301. Wamego finished second with a 309.
Lewis VanMeter shot an 83 for Concordia.
Hayden Dvorak rounded out the top four for the Panthers with an 87.
Keegan Hamel finished with a 90 for Concordia and Aden Plymesser shot 95.
Clay Center was led by individual medalist Carson Floersch with a 72.
Ty Langvardt was second for the Tigers with a 73 and AJ Peerson placed fourth with a 74.
Isaac Pfizenmaier shot an 82 for Clay Center.
Concordia will compete in the Class 4A regional tournament hosted by Buhler High School at Hesston Golf Club next Monday.
