CHS tennis team competes in 4A regional

BUHLER — The Concordia High School tennis team competed in the Class 4A regional tournament hosted by Buhler High School on Friday.
Bricen Benyshek, playing singles for Concordia, received a forfeit from Carson Hess, Abilene, in the opening round.
Benyshek lost 6-0, 6-0 to top-seeded, and eventual champion, Davian Spies, Buhler.
Bryson Archer, McPherson, downed Benyshek 6-0, 6-0.
Archer went on to place fifth.
The top six singles players and doubles team qualified for the state tournament, that will be played Friday and Saturday in Pratt.
Concordia's Qwinter Thrash suffered a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Brody Kramer, Clay Center.
Jonathan Turner and Evan Bombardier, playing doubles for Concordia, received a forfeit in the first  round. They lost 6-0, 6-0 to Brock Hilger and Von Woleslagel, Buhler, and 6-0, 6-0 to Eli Biggs and Merick Manns, Buhler.
Hilger and Woleslagel placed second in the tournament. Biggs and Merick finished fifth.
Also playing doubles for the Panthers, Kaedyn Newton and Zakary Allen fell 6-1, 6-3 to Jeremiah Bathurst and Marcus Frey, Abilene.
