CHS wrestlers win at Clay Center

CLAY CENTER — The Concordia High School boys' wrestling team capped off its regular season by defeating Clay Center 36-31 in a North Central Kansas League dual on Thursday.
Christian Belden gave Concordia a 3-0 lead by winning a narrow 5-4 decision over Thayne Pfizenmaier in the 106-pound class.
Quinn Kymer, 113 pounds, lost by fall to Clay Center's Blaize Charbonneau.
Rush LeDuc won a 16-2 major decision over Miller Coffman in the 120-pound class.
Carter Eakins lost a 16-4 major decision to Morgan Brumfield in the 132-pound class.
The Panthers then won four straight matches.
Drew Sterrett, 138 pounds, won 3-2 over JT Alton.
Deekon Holbert, 144 pounds, pinned Noah Gibson.
Drake Blochlinger took just 22 seconds to pin Seth Hovland in the 150-pound class.
Tre Hamiel, 157 pounds, pinned Aiden Argo.
Mason Eickmann lost by fall to Clay Center's Talyn Pfizenmaier in the 165-pound class.
Concordia's Caleb Hanson, 175 pounds, pinned Levi Kramer.
Tracer Murdock, 190 pounds, lost by fall to Tucker Jackson.
Jacob Barr secured the dual win for the Panthers by winning an 11-6 decision over Ethan Tiers in the 215-pound class.
Concordia was open at 285.
The Panther boys will compete in the Class 4A regional tournament in Colby on February 17.
The Concordia girls suffered a 30-24 loss to Clay Center.
Concordia's Ava Metro, 110 pounds, lost by fall to Alissa Cowing.
Tierney Breault, 115 pounds, lost by fall to Ezri Catlin.
Concordia gave up a forfeit at 125 pounds.
The Panthers then won five straight matches.
Gabi Lange, 130 pounds, and Ruby Genereux 135 pounds, won by forfeit.
Tameka Weber pinned Shae Urban.
Kiara Rugg, 145 pounds, pinned Kiersten Dumas.
Jezia Hernandez, 155 pounds, won by forfeit.
Concordia was open at 170 pounds.
The Panther girls will compete in the 4-1A tournament on Saturday.
