Cloud County beats KWU JV

SALINA — The Cloud County Community College volleyball team evened its record at 11-11 with a 3-1 win over the Kansas Wesleyan University junior varsity on Friday.
Cloud County dropped the first set to Kansas Wesleyan, 25-17.
The Thunderbirds downed the Coyotes 25-20 in the second set to even the match.
Cloud County won the third set to go up 25-17.
The T-Birds capped off the win by taking the fourth set, 25-19.
“As the night went along, we saw a lot of highlights,” Cloud County coach Deb Monzon said, “We definitely saw a quicker offense the last three sets than we have been running, and saw more chemistry on the court, which will be very important as we move on for the next few weeks.”
Haven Hamilton recorded a career high 14 kills to lead the Cloud County attack.
Giovanna Fundaro finished with 11 kills and 14 digs.
Jessica Williams, a freshman from Concordia, added eight kills.
Dayana Chara and Erica Gilbert had seven kills each.
Willow Hunt had 16 digs for the T-Birds.
Carrie Miller finished with 22 assists and Concordia freshman Lake Schroeder added 20 assists.
