Cloud County women place second in Rust Buster

TOPEKA — Recording first-place finishes in two events, the Cloud County Community College women’s track and field team placed second in the Rust Buster Classic hosted by Washburn University on Saturday.
Mercy Angaanchaab won the 600-meter run for Cloud County.
Cloud County’s 4x400 relay team placed first.
The Thunderbirds scored 74 points in the meet.
Washburn won the women’s team title with 81 points.
Cloud County finished fifth in the men’s division with 45 points.
Missouri Southern won the meet with 72 points.
Angaanchaab set a meet record of 1:27.20 in winning the 600. Teammate Nontokozo Ncube finished second in 1:27.31 and Suzanne Farnham was seventh in 1:35.26.
Cloud County’s 4x400 relay team of Angaanchaab, Ncube, Franca Nwachukwu and Rafiatu Nuhu turned in a winning time of 3:54.89 in the 4x400 relay.
Cloud County had a second team finish fourth in 4:16.98.
Nuhu placed second in the 200-meter dash (24.75) and the 400-meter dash (56.20).
Nwachukwu was sixth in the 400 (58.62).
Chenessa Davis finished second in the high jump (5-1). Cordaelia Williams tied for fifth (4-11) and Mariem Soltani was seventh (4-11).
Davis was also sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.99).
Shackala Henry placed third in the invitational high jump (5-5).
N Vanee Anchike finished third in the 800-meter run (2:15.58) and fourth in the mile (5:09.49).
Andrienne Locke-Garcia was sixth in the shot put (43-1) and seventh in the weight throw (51-3/4).
The Cloud County men got a first-place finish by Trey Collins in the high jump. He cleared 6-5. Corey Ottey was seventh with 5-11 1/4.
Kamogelo Thipe placed second in the 600 run (1:12.49) and fifth in the 800 (1:55.10).
Cloud County’s 4x400 relay team of Ottey, Nichols Aninze, Awakhiwe Ndlovu and Oageng Mdlela placed second (3:23.53). Brandon Hutchinson, Bradley Nkosi, Alan Garcia and Arne Roehl finished seventh (3:30.11).
Mdlela was second in the triple jump (48-3/4) and Ndlovu was third (48-0).
Mohamed Bellhassen placed fifth in the pole vault (15-3 1/2).
Cloud County got a sixth-place finish by Siyabonga Mokgothu in the 3,000-meter run (8:28.59).
Lubo Zlatev finished seventh in the long jump (23-2 1/4) and Nirmit Dahiya was seventh in the mile (4:15.19).
