Concordia freshmen place third

SALINA — The Concordia High School freshman volleyball team placed third in the Salina South Invitational on Saturday.
Concordia defeated McPherson 25-22, 25-21 in the third-place match.
The Panthers opened the tournament with a 25-9, 25-12 win over Abilene.
Hays handed Concordia its lone defeat, 25-18, 25-18.
The Panthers downed Smoky Valley 25-17, 25-17 and Salina Central, 25-15, 25-20.
Anna Widen had 20 kills and nine service aces in the tournament for Concordia.
Charlize Cash added 15 kills and six service aces.
Riley Jessup finished with 13 kills and five service aces.
Baylen Arnold had 46 assists and 13 service aces.
