Dvorak places 10th at Abilene

ABILENE — Freshman Hayden Dvorak recorded a top 10 finish for the Concordia High School golf team Tuesday in the Abilene Invitational at Great Life Golf Course.
Dvorak shot 43 on the front nine and 46 on the back to finish with an 89. He tied for eighth place with Brant Kieffer, Marysville, and Hayden Knauss, St. John's Military.
Based on a scorecard playoff, Dvorak placed 10th.
“Dvorak had a good day. With the exception of a couple of hiccups in the short game, that is as good as  I have seen him play,” Concordia coach Gene Rundus said.
Concordia, playing without senior Paul Rundus, finished fifth as a team with a four-man score of 416.
Wamego won the tournament with a 319. Abilene was second with a 357 and Marysville was third with a 373.
Braxton Kindel posted a 102 for Concordia.
Treyton Kindel shot 109 and Austin Krier rounded out the top four with a 116.
Tanner Smith finished with a 124 for the Panthers.
Jackson Rader, Marysville, was the individual medalist with a 71.
Paul Rundus competed in the Republic County Invitational on Monday at Belleville Country Club. He had rounds of 46-40 to shoot an 86.
Defeating Kobe Hoover, Washington, in a scorecard playoff, Rundus placed third individually.
“We haven't taken anyone to Belleville since my first year as head coach. Obviously, this isn't a league meet, but it is one I don't want to lose from our schedule and it means a lot to me since I played four years of high school golf on that course,” Gene Rundus said, “Paul had to give up going to Abilene on Tuesday, but I wouldn't have traded the experience for anything.”
Jackson Feulner, Thayer Central (Neb.) won the tournament with an 82.
Concordia will play in the Beloit Invitational on Thursday.
