Fast start propels Panthers to dual win over Wamego

Picking up wins in the first five matches to get out to a 30-0 lead, the Concordia High School wrestling team held on to defeat Wamego 43-36 in a North Central Kansas League dual Thursday night in the Concordia Junior-Senior High School gymnasium.
Concordia, now 2-0 in league duals, had Christian Belden win by pin in 39 seconds in the 106-pound class.
Ashton Dooley, 113 pounds, received a forfeit.
Logan Leiszler pinned Lee Zaylund in 1:05 in the 120-pound class.
Carter Eakins received a forfeit in the 126-pound class.
Daniel Vines, 132 pounds, gave Concordia the 30-0 lead by pinning Tayke Weber in 1:17.
The Panthers then suffered four consecutive losses as Wamego closed the gap to 30-24.
Easton Swihart, 138 pounds, was pinned by Wamego's Nick Cruickshank.
Cody Trost, 145 pounds, lost by fall.
Toby Wahlmeier was pinned by Gannon Couture in the 152-pound class.
Caleb Hanson, 160 pounds, was pinned by Drew Brown.
Nathan Brown, 170 pounds, won a 10-2 major decision for Concordia in the 170-pound class to make it 34-24.
Keyan Miller gave the Panthers a 37-24 advantage by winning an 8-1 decision over Jake Meyer in the 182-pound class.
Concordia gave up a forfeit in the 195-pound class.
Tracer Murdock, 220 pounds, secured the dual win for the Panthers by winning a 2-0 decision.
Wamego's Ethan Holle pinned Michael Ashland in the 285-pound class.
In the only girls' match, Concordia's Teggan Workman won by fall in the 143-pound class.
Concordia won four of the five junior varsity matches.
Torxsten Kindel, 132 pounds; Braxton Kindel, 132 pounds; Dustin Sterrett, 138 pounds; and Mason Eickmann, 152 pounds, won by fall.
Jacob Barr, 170 pounds, lost a 7-0 decision.
