Fort Scott deals CCCC pair of losses

Fort Scott Community College dealt the Cloud County Community College softball team a pair of Jayhawk Conference Division II losses Sunday at the CCCC Softball Field.
Cloud County fell 12-3 in the opening game of the doubleheader and dropped the second game, 16-7.
Fort Scott got out to a 10-0 lead on its way to the win in game one.
The Greyhounds scored two runs in the first inning, two in the second and six in the top of the fourth.
Cloud County made it 10-2 when Delaney Exon homered with Ryleigh Jones aboard in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Fort Scott scored, added two runs in the top of the fifth inning, and led 12-3.
The game ended after five innings because of the eight-run rule.
Taylor Dekok suffered the loss for Cloud County. She gave up 12 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits, struck out four and walked three.
Jones had three of Cloud County's five hits in the game.
The T-Birds grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two when Mia Kelly scored on a throwing error.
Three runs in the top of the second inning put Fort Scott on top to stay, 3-1.
The Greyhounds extended the lead to 9-1 with six runs in the top of the third inning.
Scoring two runs in the bottom of the third, the T-Birds trailed 9-3.
Exon singled to drive in Jones, and Kelly scored on a fly ball by Dekok.
Fort Scott added three runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Ella Caudill tripled and drove in Shayna Fila in the bottom of the fourth, and the T-Birds were down 12-4.
Four runs in the top of the fifth inning gave the Greyhounds a 16-4 cushion.
Cloud County scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Rae Ann Hartwig singled to drive in Dekok.
McKenna Mayhew and Hartwig each scored on error.
The game ended after five innings.
Kyra Meyer took the loss. She allowed 12 runs, 10 earned, on nine hits, struck out seven and walked four in four innings.
Dekok worked the final inning and gave up four runs, one earned, on two hits, struck out one and walked two.
Kelly and Fila had two hits each.
