Geta leads T-Birds to third-place finish

KEARNEY, Neb. — Led by individual champion Habtamu Geta, the Cloud County Community College men's cross country team placed third in the University of Nebraska-Kearney Invitational Friday at Meadowlark Golf Course.
Geta turned in a time of 25:07.30 to win the race.
Cloud County finished the meet with 68 points.
Nebraska-Kearney, a NCAA Division II school, won the meet with 25 points. Hutchinson Community College was second with 62.
The Cloud County women finished second in the meet with 35 points.
Nebraska-Kearney captured the team title with 31 points. Hutchinson was third with 77 points.
Michael Iyali placed 14th for the Cloud County men with a time of 26:10.80.
Linus Limo ran 27:23.70 to finish 23rd.
Rylan Cheney was 25th in 27:38.10 and Ryder Amos finished 40th in 31:03.40.
The Cloud County women were led by Patricia Koma, who finished third in 19:04.40.
Pamela Milano ran 19:27.40 to place fifth.
Maryse Mbenoun crossed in sixth place in 19:28.40.
Kya Johnson placed 10th with a time of 19:49.20.
Abbey Hoover rounded out the top five for the Thunderbirds by finishing 16th in 20:43.90.
Abigail Fisher was 23rd in 22:31.20.
The Cloud County men and women will compete in the Region 6 Championships in El Dorado on October 28.
