Grasshoppers top Knights 8-3 to claim state championship

The Beloit Grasshoppers defeated the Concordia Knights of Columbus 8-3 in the championship game of the 62nd Kansas Pee Wee Baseball Association State Tournament played Friday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
The Knights of Columbus had posted wins over the Concordia Chevrolet Chevy's, Valley Heights and Osborne to reach the state title game.
Beloit downed Bremen, the Beloit Iron Birds and Hanover.
Cale Bridwell singled and scored a run in the top of the first inning to give the Knights of Columbus an early lead on the Grasshoppers.
Beloit tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Bridwell homered with Maklen Brown aboard in the top of the second inning, and the Knights of Columbus led 3-1.
The Grasshoppers answered with three runs in the bottom of the second to go up 4-3.
One run in the third inning gave Beloit a 5-3 cushion.
The Grasshoppers added three runs in the fourth inning.
The Knights of Columbus were shut out over the final three innings.
Jaden Farha and Brady LaBarge did the pitching for the Knights of Columbus.
Bridwell had two hits and scored two runs.
Osborne downed Hanover 7-1 in the third-place game played Friday.
