Knights top American Legion

Jumping out to a 13-2 lead in the first two innings, the Knights of Columbus held on to defeat the American Legion 14-12 in the Concordia Peewee Baseball season opener Wednesday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
The Knights of Columbus put up four runs in the first inning.
Two runs in the top of the second inning left the American Legion trailing just 4-2.
Sending 14 batters to the plate, the Knights of Columbus erupted to score nine runs in the bottom of the second inning and led 13-2.
The Knights of Columbus made it 14-2 with a run in the third inning
Taking advantage of nine walks, the American Legion mounted a comeback in the fourth inning.
Scoring 10 runs, the American Legion closed the gap to 14-12.
Jaden Farha, Jack Gilliland, Brady LaBarge, Peyton Ryals and Tracer Johnson pitched for the Knights of Columbus.
Elijah Versch and Dominick Bliss did the pitching for the American Legion.
Farha, Gilliland, Ryals and Cale Bridwell had two hits and scored two runs each for the Knights of Columbus.
In the other game played Wednesday night, the Concordia Chevrolet Chevy's downed the Concordia Lions, 11-5.
The Chevy's jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
The Lions scored one run in the bottom of the first.
Single runs in the second and fourth innings gave the Chevy's a 9-1 cushion.
The Lions put up four runs in the bottom of the fourth, and trailed 9-5.
The Chevy's added two runs in the fifth inning.
Daniel Kemling pitched all five innings for the Chevy's.
Jerrik Williams, Nash Franz and Gavin Robinson pitched for the Lions.
