Legion blanks Knights of Columbus, 13-0

Layne Herman threw a no-hitter as the American Legion shut out the Knights of Columbus 13-0 in Peewee Baseball play Monday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
Herman struck out eight and walked two in four innings of work. He retired the first 11 batters he faced in the game.
The American Legion got out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the game.
Scoring three runs in the second inning, the American Legion increased its lead to 7-0.
The American Legion sent nine batters to the plate and scored six runs in the fourth inning to make it 13-0.
Kasey Pearson and Ayden Krier scored three runs each for the American Legion.
Brandon Vignery and Braytin Hake scored two runs each.
In the other game played on Monday night, Concordia Chevrolet/Buick downed the Concordia Lions, 10-2.
Chevrolet/Buick put up three runs in the top of the first inning.
The Concordia Lions made it a 3-2 game with two runs in the bottom of the first.
One run in the second inning gave Chevrolet/Buick a 4-2 advantage.
Chevrolet/Buick added two runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Gehrig Bechard and Carson Brooks scored two runs each for Chevrolet/Buick.
