Minneapolis sweeps Panthers

Minneapolis scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to squeeze past the Concordia Panthers 3-2 in the second game of a baseball doubleheader Monday at the Concordia Sports Complex.
The game was tied at 2-2 through seven innings.
A single, a stolen base and a pair of wild pitches allowed Minneapolis to put up a run in the top of the first extra inning and grab a 3-2 lead.
Braeden Primeaux walked with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, but a strikeout and a groundout ended the game.
Minneapolis won the first game of the twinbill, 6-3.
The Lions grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game two.
Scoring a run in the top of the fourth inning, Minneapolis led 2-0.
Dalton Owen was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Payton Breese in the bottom of the fourth inning, and Concordia trailed 2-1.
The Panthers tied the game with a run in the sixth inning.
Maddox Frey reached base on an error and scored on a single by Primeaux.
Concordia left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning and Minneapolis scored the winning run in the eighth.
Frey pitched the first seven innings for the Panthers and gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits. He struck out eight and walked two.
Stryker Hake allowed one unearned run on one hit in one inning in suffering the loss.
Breese had two hits for the Panthers.
Minneapolis put up three runs in the top of the first inning in the first game of the doubleheader.
Hake tripled and scored on a base hit by Owen in the bottom of the first inning, and Concordia trailed 3-1.
The Panthers closed the gap to 3-2 when Breese was hit by a pitch and scored on a single by Primeaux in the second inning.
Concordia would tie the game at 3-3 with a run in the third inning.
Hake singled, moved to second on a balk, went to third on a single by Owen and then stole home.
The Panthers would be shut out over the final four innings.
Minneapolis reclaimed the lead at 6-3 with three runs in the fifth inning.
Primeaux pitched the first four and two-thirds innings in taking the loss. He surrendered six runs, three earned, on five hits, struck out five and walked two.
Breese and Shelby Giersch pitched in relief.
Owen, Hake and Breese had two hits each in the game.
