Monzon collects 600th victory as Thunderbirds sweep Pratt

Cloud County Community College volleyball coach Deb Monzon picked up her 600th victory as the Thunderbirds knocked off Pratt Community College in straight sets Wednesday night in Bryant Gymnasium.
With the win, Cloud County finished up the regular season 17-15 overall and 5-11 in Jayhawk Conference play.
The first set of the match was tied at 2-2 when the T-Birds scored 11 straight points to go up 13-2.
Cloud County had a commanding 19-6 lead in the set when Pratt scored eight consecutive points to close the gap to 19-14.
The T-Birds were able to go on and capture a 25-18 win.
Pratt, 9-22 overall and 2-14 in conference play, trailed just 17-16 when Cloud County used a 5-1 run to go up 22-17.
The Beavers scored the next two points and trailed 22-19.
A kill by Geraldyn Palacios and two service aces by Mariah Janda gave the T-Birds the 25-29 victory and a 2-0 lead.
Cloud County would turn back Pratt 25-22 in the third set to complete the sweep.
Palacios and Natasha Dooley had nine kills each for the T-Birds. Lakyn Tenbrink and Kenzie Cooper added six kills each.
Dooley also had 14 digs in the win. Michaela Bowers had 12 digs and Kylie Fuller had 11 digs as well as 15 assists.
Mariah Janda finished with 23 assists and eight service aces.
