Mustangs sweep Panthers

The Concordia High School softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Rock Creek last Friday at the Concordia Sports Complex.

Rock Creek defeated Concordia 15-4 in the opening game of the twinbill.

Acelyn Rottinghaus tossed a five-inning no-hitter as the Mustangs blanked the Panthers 15-0 in the second game.

Rock Creek got out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game one.

Four runs in the fifth inning gave the Mustangs an 8-0 advantage.

Hitting two home runs, Rock Creek pushed the lead to 13-0 with five runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Concordia put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Kinsleigh Bethune walked with one out.

Kenlee Williams reached base on a fielder’s choice and Jaylin Roush singled to load the bases.

Emalee Johnson knocked in two runs with a single.

A two-out single by Carly Brown got two more runs home.

Brooklyn Plummer hit her second home run of the game, a two-run shot, in the top of the seventh inning to give Rock Creek the 15-4 cushion.

Erinae Flesher pitched the first five and a third innings in suffering the loss for Concordia. She gave up 13 runs, nine earned, on 14 hits, struck out three and walked three.

Catelin Benyshek worked an inning and two-thirds and allowed two runs on one hit. She walked one.

Flesher had two hits for the Panthers.

Johnson and Brown drove in two runs each.

Rottinghaus struck out 13 and walked one in holding Concordia hitless through five innings in game two.

Sam Killingsworth hit a solo home run for Rock Creek in the top of the first inning.

Sending 12 batters to the plate, the Mustangs pushed across six runs in the second inning, and led 7-0.

Ali Jones hit a two-run home run in the inning.

Rock Creek made it a 9-0 game with two runs in the fourth inning.

Scoring six runs in the top of the fifth inning, the Mustangs opened up a 15-0 advantage.

The game ended after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Roush took the loss for Concordia. She surrendered 14 runs, eight earned, on nine hits, struck out five and walked five.
