Niehues, Panthers place fifth

WAMEGO — Freshman Mya Niehues, placing fifth individually, led the Concordia High School girls' golf team to a fifth-place finish in the Wamego Invitational Thursday at Wamego Country Club.
Niehues posted a score of 42 in the nine-hole event.
Concordia finished with a team score of 220.
Silver Lake won the team title with a 180. Wamego finished a close second with a 182 and Topeka was third with a 190.
Concordia had senior Brecklynn Bonner shoot a 58.
Senior Kaitlyn Nelson finished with a 61 for the Panthers.
Freshman Madalyn Bowers rounded out the top four with a 67.
Emma Herman, a senior, shot a 69.
Klara Kleinig, Silver Lake, and Addison Douglass, Wamego, each shot 38 to tie for first place.
Concordia will compete in the Salina South Invitational on September 18.
