Panther cross country runners honored

Members of the Concordia High School cross country team were honored during the end of the year banquet on Monday.
Sophomore Alan Garcia was presented the Number One Runner Award for the boys' team.
Jaida Koester, a sophomore, received the Number One Runner Award for the girls' team.
The awards go to the runners who have consistently been the team leaders.
Seniors Emma Losh and Harleigh Smith were named co-recipients of the Brent Newton Award which is given to the runner that inspires hard work, desire, spirit and heart in their teammates.
Freshman Qwinter Zimmerman was presented the I Challenge You Award given to the runner who has great potential to contribute to the success of the team the next year.
“I am encouraged with the current runners that we have and the runners that we will have coming into the program. We have a promising group of runners that have talent and potential to do amazing things,” Concordia coach Rick Haden said. “In the next few years I expect that we will be a strong and vibrant cross country team, and that's exciting.”
Concordia runners receiving varsity letters include: Garcia, Koester, Losh, Smith, Zimmerman, Jordan Gilkeson, Moyra Barnes, Peyton Johnson and Megan Barr.
Runners receiving participation awards include:
Eighth grade – Aubrey Stahlman, Jagger Johnson, Zakary Allen and Brandon Wahlmeier.
Seventh grade – Gunner Barnes, Joe Berk, Joel Gross, Draven Luecke and Clayton Viereck.
Sixth grade – Mya Niehues, Hannah Bridwell, Isabella Alexander, Anastasya Schreiber, McKayla Cherney, Lillian Nuss, Quinn Kymer, Danner Benfer, Liam McNutt and Isaias Irigoyen.
