Panthers blank Clay Center

CLAY CENTER — Concordia upped its record to 2-0 by defeating Clay Center 40-6 in eighth grade football play on Thursday.
A 25-yard touchdown run by Burke Kindel in the first quarter put Concordia on top to stay in the game.
Drake Blochlinger scored on a 1-yard run. Kale Schroeder threw to Isaias Irigoyen for the two-point conversion, and the Panthers led 16-0 heading into the second period.
Concordia got a 5-yard touchdown run by Ryker Wildeman. Schroeder ran in the conversion to make it a 24-0 lead at halftime.
Blochlinger scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter. Wildeman ran in the conversion.
The final Concordia touchdown came on another 3-yard run by Blochlinger in the fourth quarter. Braytin Hake ran in the conversion.
Clay Center scored its lone touchdown in the final period.
Parker Jackson had two blocked punts in the game for Concordia.
Hake and Wildeman recovered fumbles.
