Panthers capture two wins over Abilene

Avenging a pair of earlier losses, the Concordia High School volleyball team remained unbeaten in North Central Kansas League play by defeating Abilene twice Tuesday night in the Concordia Junior-Senior High School gymnasium.
Concordia, which had dropped two non-league matchups with Abilene earlier this season, defeated the Cowgirls 25-18 in the opening set of the first match on Tuesday.
The Panthers completed the sweep with a 25-20 victory in the second set.
Kynlee Hamel had nine kills, five service points and three digs in the win for Concordia.
Kenlee Williams added four kills and two blocks.
Carlie Carlgren finished with eight digs, five service points and three kills.
Taylor McDaniel had six service points, four digs and three kills.
Baylen Arnold had 13 digs and six service points.
Rylie Jessup had 12 assists and three digs.
Hattie Blackwood had eight assists.
Concordia, now 15-13 overall and 8-0 in league play, downed Abilene 25-20 in the opening set of the second match.
The Panthers slipped past the Cowgirls 26-24 to win the match 2-0.
McDaniel had a team-best eight kills and added eight digs.
Carlgren had 21 digs, 14 service points with three aces and five kills.
Hamel had five kills, three service points, two blocks and two digs.
Blackwood finished with 13 assists, 12 digs and three service points.
Arnold had 18 digs.
Concordia will host Russell and Minneapolis in a triangular starting at 5:15 p.m. Thursday and then wrap up league play by hosting Clay Center on Tuesday.
