Panthers compete in quad

CHAPMAN — The Concordia High School girls' tennis team picked up wins in number one and number two singles and number two doubles in the quadrangular hosted by Chapman on Thursday.
Lacie Duvall, playing number one singles for Concordia, suffered a 6-1 loss to Elyssa Frieze, Chapman, in the opening round.
Frieze placed third in the Class 4A state tournament last season.
Duvall rallied from 5-2 down to defeat Abilene's Dighton Tokoi, 6-5. She then fell 6-4 to Addison Denney, Wamego.
Jessika Bisnette got her first varsity experience playing number two singles for the Panthers. She was beaten 6-2 by Meredith Kuntz, Chapman.
Bisnette downed Gabby Guillen, Abilene, 6-2, before falling 6-2 to Rebekah Jones, Wamego.
Concordia's Kacie Price and Daegen DeGraff suffered a 6-1 loss to Avery Baer and Clara Gfeller, Chapman, in the first round of number two doubles. They defeated Allyssa Tompkins and Haylee Anguiano, Abilene, 6-2, and lost 6-1 to Maya Gallagher and Kyle McAdams, Wamego.
Madelyn Stiles and Zoe Britt played number one doubles for the Panthers. They lost 6-1 to Tanith Elliot and Grace Merritt, Chapman; 6-5 to Amara Johnson and Adin Bruna, Abilene, and 6-0 to Brittney Crubel and Sarah Jones, Wamego.
The Concordia junior varsity completed in a quadrangular at Smoky Valley.
Shanna Sulanka defeated Sadie Robinson, Hesston, 6-5 in the opening round. She was beaten 6-2 by Jill Hett, Smoky Valley, and 6-5 by Acacia Chrisjohn, Hesston.
Katria Kindscher and Gracey Drury played number one doubles for the Panthers. They lost 6-0 to Alex Richardson and Elizabeth Timsah, Wichita Collegiate, in the first round.
Kindscher and Drury defeated Lillian Fulton and Kaitlyn Leis, Smoky Valley, 6-2 and then lost 6-0 to Sophie Ladd and Emma Bontrager, Hesston.
In number two doubles, Concordia's Kiara Rugg and Brooklyn Howard were beaten 6-1 by Ishani Nagabhushan and Hannah Ternes, Wichita Collegiate; 6-1 by Jamie Bean and Jordan Flores, Smoky Valley; and 6-1 by Alania Logan and Carley Bartel, Hesston.
