Panthers pick up pair of wins with sweep of Minneapolis

The Concordia High School softball team swept Minneapolis in a non-league doubleheader here on Friday.
The Panthers, now 11-5 on the season, won the first game 4-1 and picked up an 8-6 win in game two.
Hanna Acree shut down the Lions in game one, giving up just one unearned run on four hits. She struck out eleven.
Concordia took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning.
An Acree single with one out was followed by a single from Erinae Flesher. Shaelin Giersch homered to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead.
Acree scored her second run of the game on a single by Emalee Johnson in the bottom of the fifth.
Minneapolis scored a run in the top of the sixth to make the score 4-1.
The Lions jumped to an early 2-0 lead in game two, scoring twice in the first inning.
The Panthers battled back in the second to take a 5-2 lead.
Callie Parker singled with one out and scored on a hit by Brecklynn Bonner. Carly Brown walked and Hattie Blackwood walked to load the bases.
Acree was hit by a pitch, driving in Bonner for the second run of the inning.
A ground out by Flesher scored Brown. Johnson reached on an error scoring Blackwood and Acree.
The Lions regained the lead with two runs in the third, one in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Concordia tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Giersch walked and scored on an error.
The Panthers added two in the sixth to take the 8-6 lead.
Johnson reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a ground ball by Parker. Kenlee Williams walked and scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the game.
Flesher pitched all seven innings allowing six runs on seven hits. She struck out three.
Parker and Bonner each had two hits.
Concordia is hosting Clay Center in an NCKL matchup today.
