Panthers place fourth at Marysville

MARYSVILLE — Posting a 3-3 record, the Concordia High School volleyball team opened its season by placing fourth in the Marysville Invitational on Saturday.
Holton downed Concordia 25-18, 25-13 in the third-place match of the tournament.
Kenlee Williams had five kills in the loss for the Panthers.
Kynlee Hamel finished with four kills and five digs.
Baylen Arnold also had four digs.
Madison Meyer added three kills.
Hattie Blackwood and Char Cash had four digs each.
Concordia, after going 3-1 in pool play, fell 25-19, 25-16 to Silver Lake in the semifinals.
Hamel had three kills, three digs and six service points.
Arnold had nine digs and three service points.
Rylie Jessup had seven digs.
The Panthers opened pool play by defeating Valley Heights in three sets, 25-18, 13-25, 29-27.
Callie Parker had eight kills, four blocks and seven service points in the win.
Hamel added seven kills, four digs and seven service points.
Taylor McDaniel added four kills.
Arnold finished with 23 digs and seven service points.
Jaylin Roush had three kills and five blocks.
Cash had eight digs, four kills, two blocks and three service points.
Nemaha Central dealt Concordia its lone loss in pool play, 25-22, 25-20.
Hamel had a team-high seven kills and four service points.
McDaniel had six kills.
Arnold had 13 digs.
Cash had six digs and seven service points.
Concordia bounced back to defeat Chapman in three sets, 19-25, 26-24, 25-19.
Parker posted seven kills, three digs, two blocks and six service points.
Hamel added seven kills, eight digs and five service points.
Arnold had 16 digs.
Cash finished with four kills, six digs and nine service points with three aces.
Kinsleigh Bethune chipped in six service points.
The Panthers finished up pool play with a 25-20, 25-17 victory over Riley County.
Hamel had eight kills, eight digs and four service points.
Cash had seven kills.
Parker added four kills and six service points.
Arnold had eight digs and three service points.
Blackwood had six digs and seven service points.
The Panthers will play in a quadrangular at Abilene on Thursday that will also include Smoky Valley and Thomas More Prep-Marian.
