Panthers place second in quad

MARYSVILLE — The Concordia High School tennis team finished second in the Marysville quadrangular that was cut short by rain on Thursday.
Clay Center won the meet and Hiawatha was third.
Bricen Benyshek, playing number two singles for Concordia, was 2-0 and was leading in a third match when the meet was called.
Benyshek defeated Tanner Pfizenmaier, Clay Center, 8-4 and Brady Haverkamp, Marysville, 8-6. He was up on Cameron Boswell, Hiawatha, 2-0 when the meet was halted.
In number one singles, Concordia's Joshua Wood fell 8-4 to Brody Kramer, Clay Center, and 8-7 (8-4) to Nick Frese, Marysville. He posted a 3-0 win over Carter Heiman, Hiawatha, in a rain-shortened match.
The Panthers' Isaiah Steffen and Malachi Carder were beaten 8-2 by Brock Ferguson and Taige Pfizenmaier, Clay Center, in number one doubles. They lost 8-1 to Blake Spicer and Simeon Wassom, Marysville, and then downed Tyler Meyers and Joel Meyer, Hiawatha, 6-2.
Playing number two doubles for Concordia, Brett Rosenbaum and Andrew Henderson fell 8-2 to Brody Rosenow and Brooks Craig, Clay Center, and 8-4 to Titus Wassom and Juandre Walton, Marysville. They shut out Becket Potter and Parker Heiman, Hiawatha, 8-0.
