Panthers place third in league

CHAPMAN — Slipping past Marysville 30-28, the Concordia seventh grade boys' basketball team placed third in the North Central Kansas League Tournament.
Concordia fell 54-24 to Abilene in the tournament semifinals on Thursday, and then bounced back to defeat Marysville in the third-place game.
The Panthers trailed Marysville 7-4 after one quarter of play.
Each team scored five points in the second period, and Marysville led 12-9 at halftime.
Marysville added 10 points in the third quarter, to eight for Concordia, to up the lead to 22-17.
The Panthers limited Marysville to six points in the final stanza, and scored 13 to rally for the win.
Peyton Retter scored 14 points for Concordia. Luke Donovan added 10 points.
Concordia trailed Abilene 32-12 at halftime in the semifinal game.
Abilene scored 23 points in the second half to 12 for the Panthers.
Donovan scored 14 points.
