Panthers pound out two wins over Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS — Racking up 35 runs, the Concordia High School baseball team rolled to two wins over Minneapolis in a doubleheader Thursday.
Concordia won the first game 19-2 in five innings and took the second game 16-2 in five innings to improve to 10-6 on the season.
Drew Sterrett doubled to drive in Braeden Primeaux and Dustin Sterrett in the top of the second inning to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead in game one.
Stryker Hake walked and scored on an error in the top of the third inning, and Concordia led 3-0.
Minneapolis cut the deficit to 3-2 with two runs in the bottom of the third.
Sending 12 batters to the plate, Concordia put up seven runs in the fourth inning, and led 10-2.
Keegun Beims had a two-run single in the inning.
Primeaux and Maddox Frey singled home runs.
Concordia erupted for nine runs on six hits, a walk and an error in the top of the fifth inning to push the lead to 19-2.
Hake had a two-run single.
The game ended after five innings.
Caleb Hanson pitched the first three innings for Concordia to get the win. He gave up two runs on two hits, struck out five and walked four.
Beims pitched one scoreless inning. He struck out one and walked one.
Chane Parker worked the final inning. He gave up one hit, struck out one and walked one.
Concordia banged out 16 hits.
Hake, Hanson and Drew Sterrett had two hits, drove in two runs and scored two runs each.
Primeaux was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Dustin Sterrett had two hits and scored two runs.
Beims knocked in three runs.
Concordia got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning of game two.
Hanson and Hake each walked and scored.
Frey doubled to drive in Payton Breese.
Scoring seven runs in the top of the third inning, the Panthers led 10-0.
Dustin Sterrett and Rush LeDuc had two-run doubles in the inning.
Minneapolis scored one run in the bottom of the third.
Primeaux and Dustin Sterrett knocked in runs during a four-run fourth inning that gave Concordia a 14-1 advantage.
The Lions added one run in the bottom of the fourth.
Concordia scored two runs in the fifth inning.
Beims singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Frey and Parker singled to drive in Breese.
Frey pitched all five innings to pick up the win. He allowed two runs on six hits, struck out six and walked one.
Dustin Sterrett had two hits in three at bats and drove in three runs.
Frey knocked in four runs.
Hanson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
LeDuc drove in two runs and Hake scored three.
Concordia plays a North Central Kansas League doubleheader at Marysville on Tuesday.
