Panthers split doublheader

ST. MARYS, KS – The Concordia High School baseball team bounced back from a game one loss with a 10-0 win over Silver Lake in the MEL/NCKL showdown yesterday.
The Panthers lost their first game to Silver Lake 10-3.
Concordia took a 1-0 lead over St. Marys with a run in the second inning.
Hunter Schroeder doubled with one out and scored on a single by Chase Parker.
Jacob Williams reached base on an error with one out in the third, Wyatt Trost followed with a single.
Chas Carlgren doubled, scoring Williams.
Gavin Thomas tripled, plating Trost and Carlgren, and then scored on a two-out single by Ivon Owen, giving the Panthers a 5-0 lead.
Concordia added a run in the fifth as Thomas doubled to drive in Parker.
Three more runs in the sixth gave the Panthers a 9-0 lead.
Nick Vignery singled with one out and scored on a double by Williams.
Trost was hit by a pitch and Carlgren walked, loading the bases.
Thomas followed with a sacrifice fly to score Williams and Schroeder singled home Trost.
Owen walked to lead off the seventh and scored on a fielder's choice by Williams, giving the Panthers a 10-0 lead.
Schroeder had three hits in the contest.
Carlgren, Parker, Thomas and Trost each had two hits.
Thomas finished the game with four runs batted in.
Tryston Jochems recorded the win, pitching all seven innings, allowing no runs on just two hits.
Jochems struck out 17 and gave up no walks.
In the first game, Silver Lake jumped to an early lead on Concordia, scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning.
The Eagles scored three more runs in the third and one in the fourth to lead 6-0.
The Panthers got a run in the sixth when Williams walked, and scored on a ground ball by Dalton Owen.
Silver Lake scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to lead 10-1.
Concordia closed out the scoring with two runs in the seventh.
Jochems walked and scored on a groundout by Trost and Vignery scored on a single by Thomas.
Thomas, Trost and Dalton Owen each drove in a run.
Thomas pitched two innings, allowing five runs on three hits. Williams threw two innings and gave up one run on one hit.
Nathan Brown finished the game giving up four runs on four hits.
The Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday with a home doubleheader with Abilene.
