Panthers split with Tigers, win league

The Clay Center Tigers spoiled Concordia's shot at going undefeated in the North Central Kansas League, but could not prevent the Panthers from capturing an outright league title.
Concordia swept Clay Center in the first of two league matches Tuesday night in the Concordia Junior-Senior High School gymnasium to improve to 9-0 in league play.
The win locked up the outright NCKL championship for the Panthers.
Clay Center then dealt Concordia its first league loss of the season in three sets.
The Panthers, 18-14 overall, finished up 9-1 in the league.
Clay Center and Wamego tied for second in the league at 7-3.
Concordia downed the Tigers 25-19, 25-19 in the opening match.
Callie Parker and Char Cash had eight kills each in the win.
Kynlee Hamel added six kills and three service points.
Carlie Carlgren finished with four kills, 16 digs and five service points.
Taylor McDaniel had eight digs, two kills and three service points.
Baylen Arnold also had eight digs as well as six service points with two aces.
Hattie Blackwood had 14 assists and Rylie Jessup had 11.
Concordia dropped the first set of the second match to Clay Center, 25-19.
The Panthers evened the match at 1-1 by winning the second set, 25-19.
Clay Center won the third and deciding set, 25-19.
Hamel had 10 kills and seven blocks in the match.
Parker had nine kills, two blocks, seven assists and four digs.
Carlgren had four kills, 21 digs and six service points.
Kenlee Williams also had four kills.
Blackwood finished with 19 assists, eight digs and 10 service points.
Arnold had 19 digs.
Concordia will finish up the regular season by playing in the Southeast of Saline Invitational on Saturday.
Concordia split a pair of junior varsity matches with Clay Center, winning the first one 25-20, 25-22 and losing the second, 25-18, 26-24.
The Concordia C-team posted two wins over Clay Center by scores of 15-25, 26-24, 15-12 and 13-25, 25-29, 15-2.
