Republic County down Panthers in opener

BELLEVILLE — Republic County dealt the Concordia seventh-grade boys' basketball team a 40-25 defeat in its season opener on Thursday.
Concordia trailed 12-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Republic County outscored the Panthers 10-8 in the second period to go up 22-15 at halftime.
Concordia was limited to six points in the third quarter. Republic County scored eight to make it 30-21.
Republic County added 10 points in the final period to four for Concordia.
Gehrig Bechard scored eight points for the Panthers.
