Seventh grade boys win season opener

BELLEVILLE — The Concordia Junior High School boys' basketball teams opened their season on the road against Republic County on Thursday.
The Concordia seventh grade rolled to a 53-17 victory over the Republic County B-team made up of seventh and eighth graders.
Concordia jumped out to a 16-2 first quarter lead.
Outscoring Republic County 17-3 in the second period, the Panthers led 33-5 at halftime.
Concordia added 17 points in the third quarter, to five for Republic County, to make it a 50-10 game.
Republic County scored seven points in the final stanza, to three for the Panthers.
Drake Blochlinger led three Concordia players in double figures with 14 points.
Isaias Irigoyen and Kale Schroeder added 12 points each.
The Concordia eighth grade fell 43-25 to the Republic County A-team.
Concordia had a 7-6 lead after one quarter of play.
Republic County scored 10 points in the second stanza, to nine for the Panthers, to tie the game at 16-16.
Concordia was outscored 14-6 in the third quarter, and trailed 30-22.
Republic County tossed in 13 points in the final period and limited the Panthers to three points.
Lane Hansen scored nine points for Concordia. Rush LeDuc and Chane Parker scored five points each.
