Sulanka, doubles team capture wins for CHS

MARYSVILLE — Shanna Sulanka, playing number one singles, and Kiara Rugg and Brooklyn Howard, playing number two doubles, captured one win each for the Concordia High School junior varsity girls' tennis team in the North Central Kansas League tournament on Monday.
Sulanka, after falling 6-1 to Isley Lee, Clay Center; 6-3 to Zoey Saum, Chapman; and 6-2 to Alexa Fulmer, Wamego, defeated Selena Espinoza, Abilene, 6-4. She was then beaten 6-1 by Kate Frese, Marysville.
Rugg and Howard opened with a 6-2 loss to Annalee Hendrickson and Kylee Shivers, Clay Center. They got past Josephine Banks and Lexi Roach, Chapman, 6-4 and then lost 6-2 to Maddie Weber and Adison Honeycutt, Wamego; 6-4 to Tylar Deweese and Aleah Ortiz, Abilene; and 6-0 to Micaiah Urban and Zoe Zutterman, Marysville.
Jessica Klein played number two singles for Concordia. She lost 6-1 to Lydia Patterson, Clay Center; 6-2 to Gabby Diercks, Chapman; 6-1 to Sammie Miller, Wamego; 6-0 to Callie Jones, Abilene; and 6-0 to Summer Seematter, Marysville.
In number one doubles, Concordia's Katria Kindscher and Gracey Drury fell 6-1 to Izzy Blackwood and Jenna Fickes, Clay Center; 6-2 to Kallie Bergamo and Ella Marshal, Chapman; 6-1 to Kylee Norris and Paige Friedline, Wamego; 6-1 to Reonna Christiensen and Maci Meuli, Abilene; and 6-0 to Ryann Robers and Shaylee Vering, Marysville.
