Sulanka, Genereaux place second in singles

Shanna Sulanka and Ruby Genereaux recorded second-place finishes in singles play for the Concordia High School tennis team in the quadrangular it hosted on Thursday.

Sulanka went 2-1 and placed second in number one singles.

Genereaux finished second in number two singles.

Ellsworth won the team title with 20 points. Chapman and Clay Center tied for second with 15 points each and Concordia scored 10 points.

Sulanka opened with a 6-5 win over Lydia Peterson, Clay Center. She lost 6-5 to MaLaney Brantley, Ellsworth, and then edged Kallie Bergamo, Chapman, 6-5.

Genereaux downed Chloe Holte, Clay Center, 6-1 and Maekenna Wyrick, Ellsworth, 6-2 before falling 6-0 to Madison Gardner.

Emma Ramirez and Jazlyn Hendershott, playing number two doubles for Concordia, lost 6-0 to Mazey Smith-Neet and Kylee Shivers, Clay Center; 6-5 to Madelyn Keller and Brooke Shoemaker, Chapman; and 6-0 to Roselyn Nienke and Chrissy Conley, Ellsworth.
