T-Birds go 4-0 in Northeast tourney

NORFOLK, Neb. — The Cloud County Community College volleyball team extended its winning streak to five straight matches by going 4-0 in the Northeast Community College Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Cloud County capped off the perfect weekend by upending the host school, Northeast, in five sets.
The Thunderbirds lost the first set to the Hawks, 25-20.
Cloud County won the next two sets, 25-19, 25-18.
Northeast evened the match at two sets apiece with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set.
The T-Birds won the fifth and deciding set, 15-10.
Madison Ronnebaum had 18 kills in the win for Cloud County.
Doga Eski finished with 16 kills.
Katelynn Brogan added 10 kills to go with 20 assists and 14 digs.
Brette Doile had 28 assists and 22 digs for the T-Birds.
Madelynn Wells had 29 digs.
Cloud County knocked off the Mount Marty College junior varsity 25-22, 25-9, 25-22 in the opening match on Saturday.
Ronnebaum had eight kills and Eski added seven.
Bradie Medina and Jacey Shurle had six kills each.
Doile finished with 23 assists, 10 digs and four kills.
Medina had 14 digs.
Cloud County opened the tournament with a 25-21, 25-21, 25-14 win over Western Iowa Tech.
Eski recorded 16 kills and 14 digs.
Medina added 10 kills and 15 digs.
Doile finished with 14 assists and Brogan had 12.
The T-Birds needed five sets to down McCook Community College.
Dropping the first set 25-23, Cloud County won the next two, 25-27, 25-18.
McCook took the fourth set, 25-16.
The T-Birds won the fifth set, 15-10.
Medina had 13 kills and 30 digs in the win.
Brogan had 11 kills, 21 digs and 23 assists.
