T-Birds knock off Blue Devils, 6-3

KANSAS CITY — Ian Riley hit a two-run home run and Aaron Hayes allowed just one hit through five innings as the Cloud County Community College baseball team capped off its regular season with a 6-3 victory over 14th-ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College on Tuesday.
Cloud County will take a 39-15 record into the postseason.
The Thunderbirds will host a first-round series in the Region VI playoffs beginning on May 10.
Riley scored on a sacrifice fly by Danny Infante in the top of the first inning, and Cloud County would not trail against Kansas City Kansas.
A two-run home run by Riley in the third inning gave the T-Birds a 3-0 advantage.
Cloud County made it a 4-0 game when Kolden Howerton doubled to drive in Riley in the fifth inning.
KCK scored its first run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Riley scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning, and Cloud County was up 5-1.
The T-Birds made it a 6-1 game when Karson Green scored on a fly ball by Willie Ponce in the top of the ninth inning.
KCK tacked on two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
Hayes shut out the Blue Devils on just one hit through five innings. He struck out three and walked one in picking up the win.
Brady Stuewe allowed one run on three hits and struck out one in one inning.
Cole Askew tossed two scoreless innings. He gave up two hits and struck out two.
Brady Kobitowich surrendered two runs on two hits, struck out one and walked one in one inning.
Infante had two hits for the T-Birds.
Riley scored four runs.
