T-Birds notch two wins over Hutch

Avenging a pair of losses earlier in the week, the Cloud County Community College baseball team dealt the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons a pair of Jayhawk Conference West Division losses Saturday at the Concordia Sports Complex.
Hutchinson had swept a doubleheader from Cloud County in the first two games of the series on Thursday.
The Thunderbirds had three pitchers combine on a two-hitter in defeating Hutchinson 4-2 in the opening game of the twinbill on Saturday.
Tom Poole hit two home runs and knocked in four runs to lead Cloud County to a 12-5 victory over the Blue Dragons in the second game.
Cloud County, now 34-10 overall, is 17-7 and in second place in the Jayhawk West, one game behind Barton Community College.
Hutchinson broke a scoreless tie with one run in the top of the third inning of game one.
Alexander Diaz scored on a fly ball by Adler Pierson in the bottom of the third, and the game was tied at 1-1.
Diaz singled, Ian Riley was hit by a pitch and Poole was intentionally walked as Cloud County loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Kolden Howerton then laced a double to drive in three runs and put the T-Birds on top to stay, 4-1.
Hutchinson would pick up a run in the sixth inning to make it 4-2.
Jack Mount pitched the first five and a third innings to get the win. He gave up two runs on two hits, struck out six and walked four.
Conner Woods struck out the two batters he faced.
Rans Sanders worked one scoreless inning to get the save. He walked one.
Diaz had two hits and scored two runs for the T-Birds.
Howerton knocked in three runs.
Ian Riley scored on a base hit by Pierson in the bottom of the first inning and Cloud County would not trail in the second game.
The T-Birds upped the lead to 5-0 with four runs in the third inning.
Diaz scored on a double by Pierson.
A ground ball by Howerton got Riley home.
Garrett Redden walked with the bases loaded to force home Pierson.
Poole scored on a sacrifice fly by Williams Camacho-Soto.
Cloud County tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning to go up 9-0.
The T-Birds loaded the bases and Poole was hit by a pitch to force home Diaz with the first run.
Howerton followed with a two-run single.
Garrett Redden then singled home a run.
After being shut out through the first five innings, the Blue Dragons pushed across four runs in the top of the sixth inning, and trailed 9-4.
Cloud County scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to make it 12-4.
Poole hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth.
Diaz scored on a base hit by Brock Wollin in the seventh.
Poole then launched another solo home run in the eighth.
Hutchinson added one run in the top of the ninth.
Joel Benes, the first of six Cloud County pitchers, tossed five shutout innings to get the win. He gave up four hits, struck out five and didn't walk any.
Jacob Shaw, Brady Stuewe, Aaron Hayes, Jared Stuewe and Mason Munz pitched in relief.
Poole had two hits, drove in three runs and scored two.
Howerton knocked in three runs.
Pierson was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Riley had two hits and scored two runs and Redden drove in two runs.
